Fern Gully in Jamaica is a lush, verdant stretch of road that runs for three miles through Ocho Rios to the community of Colgate in the parish of St. Ann. Home to over 300 varieties of ferns, banana trees and the National Tree - the Blue Mahoe; it's easy to see why the first inhabitants of Jamaica: the indigenous Taino people, called the island "Xamayca", meaning the land of wood and water. I highly recommend a drive through this beautiful corner of the country.
